Why buy Canadian / support Canadian workers?
When Amazon.ca has an honest Made-in-Canada or Canadian-brand match, we put it first so more of your cart supports Canadian manufacturing, brands, and workers. Foreign units can still be excellent CADR or Prime picks — they stay under a clear Imported alternative label. We never invent Made badges.
What is the difference between Made in Canada and Canadian brand?
Made in Canada means the unit is manufactured here (e.g. Dupray Bloom, AllerAir). Canadian brand means a Canadian company (e.g. Danby in Guelph) even if the country of origin is elsewhere — we say so on the card. Both support Canadian workers and companies in different ways; only Made gets a Made badge.
Why is smoke / HEPA the primary path?
Wildfire smoke now reaches cities from the Pacific to the Atlantic. A portable true-HEPA purifier with a published CADR is the appliance that actually addresses airborne particles. What does CADR mean here?
Clean Air Delivery Rate is a lab measure of how quickly a unit delivers filtered air for dust, pollen, and smoke-sized particles. We use it as a sizing hint, not a health outcome. A “covers 1,000 ft²” banner is often one slow air change per hour — not a smoke-day bedroom.
Why Amazon.ca and Prime language?
Smoke weeks and January dry spells are time-sensitive. Listings that ship from Amazon and qualify for Prime usually arrive faster and are easier to return than long-haul marketplace stock or Amazon Global Store. When we cannot confirm fulfilment, we ask you to check the Ships from / Sold by line on Amazon.ca, and we de-emphasize weak merchant-fulfilled offers for our top picks.
Are the prices exact? Do you invent stock?
No. Every dollar figure is an approximate CAD price from the date we last checked, not a live price or an in-stock guarantee. Click through to Amazon.ca for the live price, seller, and fulfilment line. We will not invent live inventory as fact.

Do you generate HVAC leads?
No. There are no quote forms, phone harvests, or contractor hand-offs. The only commercial path is Amazon.ca Associates links tagged aircomfortlab-20.
Is this an Ontario-only site?
No. The public brand is Canada Air Comfort Lab. Guidance is written for Canadian homes nationwide. Ontario winters and basements show up as examples because they are familiar, not because coverage stops at a provincial border.
Should I run a humidifier and a HEPA unit together?
They do different jobs. HEPA reduces particles that pass through the filter. A humidifier adds moisture. On a smoke day, close windows and run buy-Canadian HEPA; do not treat humidity as filtration. Keep filters stocked via the filter replacement guide.
Will a basement dehumidifier get rid of mould?
No. It can lower airborne moisture if the space is closed and the unit is sized and drained. It does not remediate existing growth, fix a leaking foundation, or replace an inspection. We will not oversell that job.
